Performance

These Sengled Smart LED Bulbs gave off a very soft white light that was excellent for reading, without putting a strain on the eyes. It was nice to have the option to adjust to our preferences. Even better, color temperature is an option, too. What we liked most of all was compatibility with 5GHz Wi-Fi networks—a feature our top three smart bulbs do not share. Lastly, there were 16 million colors to choose from, something we know few people will make use of but very nice for setting moods, or taking artsy pictures.

You can also take advantage of voice assistants and their accompanying smart home devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. By proxy, that includes Echo Dot and Google Home smart devices.

Design

As usual, getting these Sengled smart lights installed and ready is easy. It should only take you a few minutes. The Sengled Home app is pretty straightforward and user-friendly. Once you have it connected to a hub, you can start making changes. Yes, you need a hub. Sengled has its own smart hub, but it is compatible with others such as SmartThings Hub, even ZigBee. You’ll then be privy to set schedules. With added devices, it becomes your very own smart lighting system.

Value

Now let’s talk value. These Sengled smart LED lights are some of the most expensive, compared to our list. A single bulb goes for $22, which is $2 more than the TP-Link Kasa Tunable white lights. Expensive? Perhaps. These are LED multicolor A19 bulbs, not your average light bulbs. It’s accomplishing what the Kasa Tunables do and the Peteme 4-Pack 60W. But then there’s the hub you have to worry about. A starter kit is available, but does very little to knock the price down.

For some, it may not be worth investing in such a lighting system. If budget is a concern, stick to the Philips Hue White 4-Pack.

Sengled Smart Wi-Fi LED Multicolor Review Wrap Up

The Sengled Smart Wi Fi LED Multicolor Bulbs have a steep price of admission—especially with the necessary addition of a smart hub. If you make the investment, you do get smart bulbs with a wide range of support voice assistants, 5GHz Wi-Fi support, and can do more than alter brightness: colors, light schedules, color temperature, all are available.
