The best smartphone is crowned from year to year, with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra quite possibly being the best large screen phone. Its screen is 6.9 inches after all. But it also has 5G capabilities, putting it in line for being the best 5G phones. Just as important is its selfie camera quality, a must-have as the best phone for vlogging.

Why We Like It – Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra

Rocking a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 5G capabilities, and Space Zoom, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra wants to head to the moon and back. And it doesn’t fail to impress with its incredibly large screen size.

Overall Performance

The S20 Ultra puts its Snapdragon 865 chipset to work—especially with its multi-camera system. The new camera features Space Zoom, digital zoom that goes up to 100x. And yes, you can snap good pictures of the moon. The front camera is rocking 40-megapixels, a must for selfie-takers. Its main camera, the rear camera, is an impressive 108-megapixels, with an additional ultra wide angle camera for wide shots. It handles lighting beautifully, without lighting up skin too much. To be the best low light camera phone the S20 Ultra answers with Night Mode. Since Knox is protecting the S20, it’s in line for being the best phone for business, with its security making it a runner-up as the most secure phone.

Battery Life

How much juice you use largely depends on two major settings: refresh rate and 4G/5G. Switching to 60Hz over 120Hz will net you a few hours, as does switching to 4G when 5G isn’t available. Both can suck several hours from its expected 13 or so hours. It does have fast charging and wireless charging.

Display

Compared to the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy S20 Plus, the S20 Ultra adds another two inches to its display, at the cost of being awkward to handle. It isn’t just for show though; it’s running at a 120Hz refresh rate for breathtaking smoothness, but lowers the 3200×1440 QHD to Full HD resolution. You can’t use it otherwise. Its display also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Durability

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a slightly better IP68 rating than the Apple iPhone 11. It’s also pretty darn strong, having Gorilla Glass 6 on both sides, with an aluminum frame in between, whereas the Galaxy S10 just had it on the front.

Value

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is packing a lot of heat: a great chipset, impressive camera quality, along with a great battery. Its overall presentation shouldn’t be overlooked either—especially when compared to the Apple iPhone 11 Pro. And since they’re the same price, the S20 edges ahead just a bit thanks to its overall better chipset. If you don’t want to splurge a lot on your smartphone but still want a well performing phone then you can check out the Samsung Galaxy A20.

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra Wrap Up

With the Galaxy S21 on the horizon, grabbing a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra is still absolutely worth considering. Its chipset is still one of the best, and having access to 5G network capabilities isn’t something you should pass on. This is still true despite its incredibly large size and 120Hz being a bit of a battery hog.
