You want the best selfie camera phone, but lack the funds for a premium smartphone. What do you do? Well, you could save some cash and go with the Samsung Galaxy A20. While it performs at an average level, it’s camera quality is surprisingly good and the best feature it offers. This phone may hardly feature in the best smartphones but it can work perfectly for vloggers.

Why We Like It – Samsung Galaxy A20

Looking like it was straight from Samsung’s premium library, the Samsung Galaxy A20 looks nice, accompanied by a long lasting battery, fast charging, and an above average camera.

Pros
  • Camera handles lighting very well
  • Long lasting battery life
  • Low price
Cons
  • Takes time to get used to its display design
  • Average performance outside of its camera

Overall Performance

Clarity, contrast, and performance with lighting are the best features offered by the cameras. The Samsung Galaxy A20 keeps color saturation full, by not overtuned, and detail is sharp and clear. Lighting is the A20’s best friend, though sometimes it might overexpose depending on the setting. The rear camera is 13MP, while the front camera pulls back to 8MP. But if you want true bliss, use the cameras on the Apple iPhone 11 Pro.

Battery Life

The Samsung Galaxy A20 makes a small comeback with its long lasting battery. On a full charge, you can get up to 14 hours of juice. And fast charging keeps it going longer when you need just a small kick.

Display

If you aren’t a display snob, you won’t be bothered by the 1560×720 resolution—but boy is that low. To put that in perspective, 1080p is 1920×1080 and 720p is 1280×720. So it’s slightly above 720p, stretched across a 6.4-inch screen. The edge infinity display is nice, but you’ll find yourself interacting with apps along the edge. You can try out the Motorola One Zoom if you wish to get a phone with a better display.

Durability

While physically it looks premium, the Samsung Galaxy A20 isn’t anything but. It trades metal for plastic, which is cost-effective, but brings its durability down several pegs. It doesn’t have water resistance either, whereas the LG V60 has an IP68 rating. You’re better off getting a case, too.

Value

So, where does that leave the Samsung Galaxy A20? Strictly a budget phone, and in that regard it’s a great phone for what you’re spending. However, outside of that it’s painfully average, aside from an above average camera and battery life. It’s price is fantastic, but if your smartphone needs an identity, upgrade to the Samsung Galaxy A70.

Samsung Galaxy A20 Wrap Up

The Samsung Galaxy A20 isn’t a “bad” phone, but rather focused on two major selling points: its long lasting fast charging battery and camera quality. Everything else is painfully average. For selfies, it’s great; it handles lighting so well, while keeping colors saturated realistically, and images will come out sharp, clear, and very detailed.
