Why We Like It – Razer Lancehead Review

The Razer Lancehead Tournament Edition Gaming Mouse is the kind of gaming centerpiece you invest in when you wish to improve your gaming, and look good doing it. This Razer mouse, like all Razer mice, provides some of the best gaming mouse performance on the market.

Pros
  • Excellent performance
  • Programmable buttons
  • Ambidextrous design
Cons
  • Compact design is tough on big hands

Performance

The Razer Lancehead TE does exceptionally well in the performance department. For starters, it supports up to 16,000 dpi, on par with the Cooler Master MM710, and as low as 100 dpi, providing a large range of different sensitivities. There’s five presets you can switch back and forth to, or use the Razer Synapse software to adjust in increments of 50 or 100. It plugs into your computer using a 2.4GHz USB dongle, so it doesn’t have a battery life.

The inches per second is far better on the wired mouse version than its Lancehead wireless mouse counterpart, providing 450 inches per second with its optical sensor, while the wireless gaming mouse version pushes 210 inches per second with its laser sensor An optical sensor, in this case, is going to be much more accurate. With that said, the wireless version does make use of adaptive frequency technology, meaning it’ll switch channels if it runs into any interference.

Design

The design of the Razer Lancehead is unapologetically gamer-centric, with smooth curves and ridges in the front and along the side—fewer sharp angles than the PICTEK Gaming Mouse—along with rubber grips and RGB lighting along the sides and scroll wheel. However, arguably its best feature is its ambidextrous design; the Razer Lancehead is an ambidextrous mouse, meaning it can be placed on either side of your desk.

With that said, it’s a rather compact mouse. Someone with big hands might have an issue using it. For smaller hands, you’ll have no problem. Two buttons can be found on the right side and left side, adding more credibility to its ambidextrous design, unlike the Logitech G203 Prodigy’s two-button only design.

Value

Razer has always released quality wireless mice, and the Lancehead isn’t any different—wireless or wired otherwise. There’s no doubt about it: you are getting a killer value here. The gaming mouse is comfortable in the hands, its performance is excellent and accurate for high action gaming, and its wired version means lag is imperceptible. On top of that, Synapse software means you can achieve a setting that works for you.

Razer Lancehead Review Wrap Up

For anyone in competitive play, accuracy is key, and the Razer Lancehead TE delivers that in spades. Its ambidextrous design allows for anyone to take advantage of its wide DPI settings and accurate IPS, though its size is rather compact and tough on bigger hands. Given its performance and additional side buttons, that more than makes up for it. It shows that Razer still provides quality gaming mice to this day.
