Performance
With an easy to navigate user interface, it won’t be long before you get used to operating this Pioneer DVD receiver since everything feels so intuitive. Navigation is quite easy, and if you ever get lost, there’s the home button at the bottom center of the screen that takes you back to where you began. In most car stereos, the sound quality is only as good as the speakers installed, but you will be able to make some adjustments to the sound through the 13-band graphic equalizer.

Design
The controls on this Pioneer AVH head unit are all located on the bottom panel of the touch screen display. This is different from the controls on the boss audio bv9358b that are located on the left of the screen. The center home button stands out because it’s raised, and the other volume, skip track, mute and mode buttons are covered in a thin membrane. You won’t find any inputs on the front of the touchscreen, but once you tilt it forward, you’ll have access to its SD card slot, DVD-ROM port and the 3.5mm audio input jack. For the USB port, you’ll have to get a USB Aux Flush Mount (sold separately) which will allow a USB and auxiliary port to be installed onto the dash, or you could opt for the 2 that are found in the rear.

If all you want to do is be able to play music from your phone through your car stereo, the Pioneer AVH 4200NEX is more than able to meet your needs. When driving, you’ll also be able to get navigation through the apps that you’re using. There’s Apple maps from Apple car play, and Google maps from Android Auto, and both of them are great at guiding you to your desired destination.
