Ranking the third-best projector for sports on the market, the Optoma EH415ST is built for consistent reliability and quality performance. Boasting full HD native resolution, quality speakers and connection options, and full 3D compatibility, this projector will serve you faithfully through all your viewing experiences, providing quality images and sound for all your favorite media.

Why We Like It – Optoma EH415ST

The Optoma EH415ST is a well-rounded short-throw projector with many good features and few real detriments. This home theater projector will work hard to provide a quality home cinema experience in all aspects.

Pros
  • Native 1080p resolution
  • High maximum brightness
  • Efficient power consumption
Cons
  • Low adjustability

Performance/Resolution

Similar to the Optoma CinemaX P1, the EH415ST has native 1080p resolution and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio for excellent full HD picture quality from the DLP projector, and even supports full 3D compatibility. Two 10W speakers built into the projector offer quality sound and easily overpower the relatively quiet fan. The projector also utilizes eco-technology to reduce power consumption, lowering the heat generated and the power required to run. If 4K is more your thing, the ViewSonic PX747 and the Acer H7850 are both excellent alternatives. The LG HU80KA 4K UHD on the other hand, offers stunningly beautiful pictures with full UHD resolution and delivers pretty good sound with its onboard audio capabilities.

Brightness/Lumens

Unlike the Optoma EH500, the Optoma EH415ST delivers quality images with high maximum brightness. 3,500 lumens make sure ambient light is not a problem when using the projector. Even with reduced power requirements and fan noise, the Optoma EH415ST displays images bright enough to enjoy even during daylight hours, or in a brightly lit room. The projector’s moderate contrast ratio ensures good color even in the presence of ambient light, though the color quality really shines through in the dark.

Adjustability/Viewing Angle

The only real downfall of the Optoma EH415ST is the lack of adjustability features, possessing no lens shift or keystone correction, making the potential placement options limited. The projector can still be mounted on a surface or on the ceiling and comes with a remote control to adjust settings from your couch or chair. The short-throw lens allows large screen sizes up to 120”, and can be placed as close as 2.7’ from the wall. For a projector with more adjustability options, the LG HU80KA is a great option.

Durability

Durability is a cornerstone of the Optoma projectors, and the EH415ST is no exception. When used in Eco mode, this projector has an average lamp life of 7,000 hours, making the need for replacement fairly rare. The frame itself is 4.88×11.26×10.43”, and comes with a variety of connections such as a PJ Link, HDMI ports, and more. Finally, the Optoma EH415ST comes with a convenient carrying case for easy transport and relocation, or for optimal storage. Optoma even offers a 3-year express warranty.

Value

Though the lack of adjustability options makes installation more of an effort, this shouldn’t diminish the Optoma EH415ST’s attributes. Native 1080p resolution, 3D compatibility, high brightness, and good durability make this short-throw projector an excellent value. The price may seem high but is worth it for the reliability this projector offers. It even comes with its own carrying case and a generous manufacturer warranty. Overall, the EH415ST is a good value and well worth its price tag.

Optoma EH415ST Wrap Up

The Optoma EH415ST is a reliable machine that won’t quit providing great quality across the board. Though the initial setup may take a bit longer, it will be worth it to experience the exceptional performance offered by this projector. If you’re looking for an all-around quality projector, look no further than the Optoma EH415ST.
