“Respectable” might be the best way to describe the Motorola G6. It’s not a knockout in any one category, but overall performs exceptionally well for a phone at this price point. Not everyone wants or needs the greatest camera or the fastest processor when it comes to buying a smartphone. The Motorola G6 is a fabulous budget-priced phone that fulfills many users’ needs, including a Full HD display and dual rear cameras.

Overall Performance
The Motorola Moto G6 performs surprisingly well for its price point: it doesn’t beat the similarly-priced Samsung Galaxy A50, but it’s a relatively fast and snappy phone. Most reviewers find this phone–particularly when it comes to taking photos– is noticeably slower than what you’d expect on a high-end flagship device, but it still performs admirably. The rear camera setup on the Moto G6 features dual sensors that better capture depth of field, particularly when using portrait mode. None of the photos taken with this phone are as crisp and vibrant as those captured on the Samsung Galaxy S10, but this phone does remarkably decent work as a camera.
Battery Life
The battery life of the Moto G6 is fair without being mind blowing. This battery can, on paper, last all day, but that’s with mild to moderate usage at best. If you plan to take hundreds of photos, play games, or constantly stream videos on wi-fi, you’ll find the battery dies long before the day is done. Should someone find themself in this situation, however, they will be happy to know that this Motorola phone offers turbocharge. Simply using the included charging cable in the G6’s USB-C port can bring your phone back from the dead and back to 100% in around 2 hours.
Display
Yet again, the display on the Motorola Moto G6 is more than adequate, but still fails to achieve absolute greatness. The Full HD+ LCD screen is crisp and vibrant, though several reviewers found it couldn’t quite stack up to the OLED screen on the pricier Google Pixel 5. Still, users should have no problem watching videos or doing some light gaming with this display. The most common complaint among reviewers regarding the Moto G6’s display is that it isn’t bright enough, particularly to be used in direct sunlight. While the Moto G6 has an awesome display, it cannot compare with LG V60 that comes with a dual screen display.
Durability
The Moto G6 can hold up to a pretty decent amount of damage, at least on the inside. Several drop tests show that the Gorilla Glass body on the phone starts to show noticeable cosmetic damage from relatively short drops. From slightly higher drops, the screen cracks in several spots, but the phone itself still functions perfectly fine. Scratches and scuffs also appear from close contact with items like coins and keys, but these are minimal. Finally, this phone isn’t IP certified, so while it is “splash proof,” you definitely don’t want to go around dunking in water anytime soon.
Value
The Motorola Moto G6 isn’t a premium phone, but, at a glance, you can see the resemblance. None of the included features are particularly groundbreaking, but for less than $300, this phone delivers quite a bit. The cameras, display, and battery are all decent, and Motorola definitely put in a lot of effort to make this phone fit in with the latest and greatest. Because it’s not the most durable phone out there, you’ll more than likely want to invest in a case, but otherwise, this phone is a great value for what you get.

The Motorola G6 is a good phone, and, considering it costs less than $300, is a fantastic value. It doesn’t perform on par with a $1000+ phone, but that’s to be expected. It’s battery life is OK, but you will need to charge it before the day is done with heavy use, and performance can be especially slow when taking photos. However, once you do start taking photos, they turn out surprisingly well, with portrait mode being a standout feature. And, for those conscious about looks, this phone matches the aesthetic of some of the best high-end phones available. Even with its lower price, the Moto G6 outperforms its budget moniker.
