Performance
Bushcraft knives are supposed to perform all kinds of wilderness tasks, and the Morakniv Bushcraft will awe you with what it can do. It performs great for taking care of all the needed tasks to build a fire on the fly, like batoning, carving, creating feather sticks, and fire starting (the knife comes with a handy fire starter). Design
The first thing that survival knife purists may notice is that the Mora Bushcraft Survival isn’t a full tang knife (this is the case with most Morakniv knives).. Even though that’s the case, given the high quality design of this knife it definitely won’t be an issue unless you’re planning to really hammer away at some wood.
It is a fixed blade knife with a carbon steel blade. The carbon steel not only looks fantastic, it’s also an anti-corrosive and stainless steel. The Bushcraft carbon steel blade has a 1/8-inch blade thickness and 4.3-inch blade length. The blade’s sharpness is definitely what stands out the most, and the scandi grind of the edge helps keep it that way and make cutting and carving much easier.
The handle is made of a rubber material, but is good quality and has a comfortable feel with great grip. It comes with a black plastic sheath with a belt loop and a handy fire starter that supposedly gets up to 7,000 strikes.
Value
For a heavy duty Mora knife, you can’t beat the price. It’s less money than other top fixed blade options like the Ka Bar Full Size U S Marine Corps Fighting Knife and Gerber LMF II without compromising much on quality. And, while it may be a little more money than the BlizeTec Survival Knife, the fact that the Mora is a fixed blade means it will probably last much longer.
