Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor is a challenging third person action-adventure game that features some of the famous characters from the lord of the rings series. This game takes place in a vast dark open world that is middle-earth, which makes for a world design of mostly mountains, kingdoms and villages. This game is an interesting adventure because of its method of mind control and intense combat to outwit enemies. If these are your kind of adventures consider Far Cry 4, or Infamous: Second Son from the best PS4 games. With its high critical and customer ratings, it’s no wonder why many LotR fans consider Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor one of the best video games.

Why We Like It – Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor Review

Pros
  • Mind Control
  • Intense Battle Style
  • Challenging Levels
Cons
  • Bland Open World

Performance

The game essentially plays similar to assassin’s creed. From a third person view, we the players maneuver through the map interacting with characters, and fighting enemies. The combat style is similar to that of assassin’s creed because of the option to instantly block or counter during fights, which always make the battles that much more intense. Aside from the battles, the game presents different objectives such as sneaking around the game in stealth missions which present new ways of play rather than simple fights to the death. If the middle-earth setting is too bland for your tastes, consider the transistor game, a futuristic RPG game.

Design

The design of the game runs smoothly on the high performing consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One. Middle-Earth’s design is not that exciting in terms of landscape since the era the game takes place in the past rugged times of medieval life. In terms of battling goblins, orcs, and controlling some creatures, the game does carry the nice mystic touch of the lord of the rings saga. Try this game if you want to enjoy some moments with Golem. For some top-notch new releases, check out the best open world games for the PS4 too.

Value

The combat system in this game allows for multiple ways of fighting enemies, which keeps the game exciting and different every time. The nemesis system alone provides enough reason to try this game out. It is not often that the AI enemies that kill us raise ranks within the storyline. An effect like that cuts on a deeper level and allows for the rematch to be as epic as intended. For a video game to make death more meaningful, the game is surely a win.

Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor Review Wrap Up

Middle-Earth Shadow of Mordor is an interesting game because it includes an intense combat system that keeps you making split decisions as if your life depended on it. Aside from combat, there are interesting events such as mind control that allow the players to control creatures such as caragols. In addition to that, the nemesis system is a whole new way to offset your opponents by dismantling hierarchies and chain of commands. This is a fun game to play for hours on end for gorey fun based in middle-earth.
