The Marmot Trestles 15 is one of the best sleeping bags due to its construction and high customer rating. It is a three-season mummy bag made from synthetic, moisture proof materials. While on the heavier side, it compresses well in its stuff sack and is priced mid-range. The internal design is roomy for those with wider hips.

Performance

As a cool weather bag, the lower limit temperature rating on the Marmot Trestles is 15 degrees Fahrenheit. It comes with a stuff sack and has an average rating of 4.5 stars by previous users of the sleeping bag. Most users found that for car camping the bag was more than acceptable, but when tent camping, you may find yourself a little chilly in cooler climates and it may not be the best use if you are not acclimated to cold weather camping. Here the Teton Sports Leef 0 Sleeping Bag may be a better option. If you opt for the size regular sleeping bag, you may find the insulation is either just right or ill-located, as the bag is stuffed in key areas, as seen fit by the manufacturer.

Design

The synthetic fill of the spirafil high loft insulation has a fill weight of 33-35 ounces, depending on the size you purchase. Since it is a synthetic bag, and not a down sleeping bag, it has a fast dry time, should it get wet; it is a moisture-resistant sleeping bag. This does make it heavier, however. In addition, it compresses and unfolds well, where feather sleeping bags tend to not regain their shape well unless there are a significant amount of baffles added to the construction process.

Value

The bag reviewed against the Winner Outfitters Mummy was moderate. While the Winner Outfitters Mummy sleeping bag is a four-season bag, the weight was within range, but the price of the Marmot is nearly tripled. When looking at the Western Mountaineering Summerlite Mummy 32F, the Marmot is nearly four times the weight, at 4.8 oz. Again, this bag is not geared towards backpack hiking, but would be suitable for car camping or camping close to your car. On the plus side, it is made from durable materials and has a decent amount of wiggle room for a mummy bag.

Marmot Trestles 15 Review Wrap Up

Overall, the Marmot Trestles 15 sleeping bag is a middle of the road sack. While it is not ideal for year-round use and is quite heavy for hiking, it is suitable for car camping or as a spare bag. It is also well constructed and insulated with water-resistant synthetic materials. The company has a decent response rate and will answer any questions you have should you provide them with an email address or another way for communication.
