The Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plugs are some of the best smart home devices for turning your home into a web of smart devices. This is done, in part, by its design. With them being Wi-Fi smart plugs, they’ll connect to your Wi-Fi network. And with its companion, the Kasa app, you’ll have the ability to control devices connected to the TP-Link Smart Wi-Fi plugs. This is a great step for Smartthings Home Automation.

Why We Like It – TP-Link Smart Plug

The Kasa Smart TP-Link Smart Plug HS105 easily integrates any device and or appliance into your smart home, thanks to its simple design.

Pros
  • Supports a variety of smart home devices
  • Compact design doesn’t block outlets
  • Excellent pricing for performance
Cons
  • Does not support Apple HomeKit

Performance

To make use of the Kasa Smart TP-Link Smart Plug HS105 is pressing the power button—just make sure you plugged it in first. The real MVP here is the Kasa app. Once you’ve plugged in, say, a toaster or lamp (you don’t need smart bulbs), they’re immediately a part of your smart home. With it you can control when they shut off with scheduling and Away Mode. On another note, if you have been searching for a smart humidifier that does not make loud noises like the older models, read more about a great option in our Taotronics smart bedroom humidifier review.

Furthermore, you can make use of voice commands; that’s always fun. You can connect TP-Link Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Minis with home devices such as Amazon’s Echo Dot or Echo Show 5. In turn you’ll have access to Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant, as well as Microsoft Cortana—which isn’t a common trait. If you use Google Home, now is the best time to pair it with the Google Nest Learning Thermostat.”

Design

Like the Gosund Smart Plugs, the Kasa Smart TP-Link Smart Plug HS105 are very small in size, with a dimension of 1.5 x 1.6 x 2.6 inches. It’s much wider than it is tall, which means it won’t plug other nearby outlets. Once plugged into an electrical outlet, press the power button on the right-hand side and plug in a device you want connected to your smart home arsenal. Value

Kasa Smart and TP-Link made an excellent option for turning most, if not all, of your appliances and such into smart devices. Just that alone gives the plugs superb value—especially at $14! That’s a steal. However, you could get a better deal with Gosund’s Smart Plugs since you get 4 plus for $26, but TP-Link is marginally more known.

With that said, the Kasa Smart TP-Link Smart Plug HS105 is lacking compatibility with the Apple HomeKit. If you hold dear your HomeKit, this plug isn’t for you.”

TP-Link Smart Plug Wrap Up

The Kasa Smart TP-Link Smart Plug HS105 provides one of the best options for integrating a few strangling appliances into your smart home collection. With its compact design, it won’t affect devices. The app, on the other hand, is great for controlling said devices. However, if you strictly use Apple HomeKit, this smart plug is not for you; otherwise, the price for performance is hard to argue with.
