The Huawei Honor8X is a budget phone, to be sure, but that doesn’t mean it can’t possess some high-end features to distinguish it from the crowd and be considered a best smartphone. A 16MP front camera, paired with 20MB and 2MB dual rear camera, a specialty night mode, and above average battery life make it so. For another high quality smartphone, take a look at how Nokia intros another touchscreen phone, the 6208C.

Why We Like It – Huawei Honor8X

The people at Huawei have packed a lot of features into the Honor Phone. At first glance, you would never guess the Honor8X is a budget phone. But plenty of style, a few nice high-end touches, and an incredible night mode showcase that a budget phone can compete just as well with a flagship phone. If you want a phone with a slightly wider screen, give our Huawei Ascend Mate 2 review a read.

Performance

The Huawei Honor8X appears to be an expensive phone but is a quarter of the price. Under the hood, the hisilicon kirin 710 has eight main CPU cores, four Cortex-A73s and four Cortex-A53s making it a great phone for streaming video. The BLU G9 Pro is another budget phone that has astonishing features with regards to its processor. The Honor8X has a high screen to body ratio for the price and plates of glass adorn the front and back while the sides are a matte-finish aluminum. The micro-USB port, however, makes it feel dated. For wirelessly charging the Honor8X , you can use the Xvida magnetic wireless power 2 charging docks.

Design

Let’s be honest right off the bat and say the Huawei Honor8X isn’t the best phone on the market, to be sure. The Samsung Galaxy A70 is another impressive budget phone you could opt for, but it’s still going to be double the price of the Honor8X. For day-to-day experiences, while still having a few high-end touches, the Honor8X is easy to recommend. Huawei’s business strategy of making phones that appear to be budget phones but are half or a quarter of the price seems to be paying off.

Huawei Honor8X Wrap Up

With a powerful hisilicon kirin processor, fantastic front camera and rear camera optimized for taking selfies, above average battery life, and incredible night mode, Huawei has produced a phone capable of standing its ground against flagship phones. Some design choices are weak, but still good, video recording are unfortunate, but that’s the price you’ll have to pay (and that price isn’t high at all).
