The Garmin D2 Pilot Watch Puts Complicated Avionics On Your Wrist

The Garmin D2 Pilot Watch is, as you might expect, designed for pilots. It starts with an extensive airport database already loaded into the watch. You can choose the airport you’re flying to by pressing the “Direct To” button, or if you need to get on the ground fast, press nearest and it’ll begin directing you to the nearest airport. Landing, though, is on you.

Sensitive Instruments

Beyond that, it’s also got a set of instruments onboard to help you find your way home. It’s got an altimeter with adjustable barometer settings, so you’ll know what level you’re on when you level out, and it also comes with a three-axis compass. It’ll even sync up with your plane’s Garmin GPS, so if that goes out, you won’t be left hanging, and can control on-board cameras.

Oh, yeah, and it’s also a watch. It’s designed to track time zones, and can even show multiple time zones. It’s even got USB handy for those times when you need to charge up. You won’t be able to add maps, however.

And finally, of course, it looks good on your wrist. Let’s face it, if it didn’t, few people would actually wear it, no matter how potentially lifesaving it is. Ideally, of course, this is nothing more than a neat watch you can show off to your friends while you’re getting your pilot’s license.
