The Fujifilm XP140 packs plenty in its compact design and modest price point. A 16.4MP CMOS sensor, 90MB internal memory, and outstanding image quality, even in darkness or other low-light situations, signals it has no desire to concede to bigger brand names. It’s just playing to its strengths, and it’s doing it well. Consider it when you’re looking for the best underwater camera.
Why We Like It – Fujifilm XP140
The Fujifilm XP140 may not pack as big of a wallop as some of its competitors like GoPro or even Nokia, but what it does pack is plenty of great features at a plenty affordable price. It’s not pretending to be something it’s not. It’s pretending to be a camera for the most hardcore of people, but just a camera that will go through everyday use with some rugged scenarios thrown in-between.

Performance
Battery Life is rated at 240 shots in auto mode which is standard for a camera like this. The battery should be okay for normal use but may need charging, or a second battery, if daily use is heavy. Unlike the Fujifilm X-T30 and the Fujifilm X-T4, the Fujifilm Finepix XP140 features a 16.4MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom lens, and has a max shutter speed of 1/200 sec. As we said, the camera is fine for everyday use. But if you need something with a little more torque you can never go wrong with a GoPro, especially the GoPro Hero 7.
Design
The Fujifilm Finepix comes equipped with a 90MB internal memory card and the option to use an SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card (just be sure to visit the Fujifilm website if you’re unsure if a particular memory card is compatible or not). The XP140 Fujifilm has a dive rating of about 25 metres, which is a perk over the Canon EOS 80D, as it isn’t waterproof. If you need to go deeper, the AKASO EK7000 4K Action Cam has a dive rating of just over 30 metres and is an affordable, budget underwater camera.
Value
One of the most surprising things about the Finepix XP140 was how good the image quality is. With a backlit sensor, the camera took low light and night photos well, while colours in normal letting really pop. To be fair, there is some purple fringing when in high-contrast situations. Unfortunately, the trade-off for this is 4K video quality at only 15fps. But it can still shoot Full HD videos at 60fps. The NIkon W300 offers excellent 4K video quality if you absolutely need to have it.
Fujifilm XP140 Wrap Up
The Fujifilm XP 140, instead of trying to outdo its competition, like Nokia and GoPro, is instead expressing the qualities it knows it can excel in. Sure, it’s unfortunate that 4K video can only be shot at 15fps, but it makes up for this with outstanding images. Battery Life is normal, but it has a back-illuminated CMOS sensor. It may not appeal to the most hardcore action addicts, but for newbies or families out at the beach it works great.
