The Epson Home Cinema 3700 is every enthusiast’s dream; it offers the highest resolution short of 4K projectors, a huge amount of adjustability, and exceptional brightness to make it one of the best projectors for bright rooms out there. This home theater projector can also display in 3D, though the quality of this feature is somewhat lacking, according to many customer reviews.

Why We Like It – Epson Home Cinema 3700

The Epson Home Cinema 3700 produces high picture quality on a large, 3D-compatible screen, even in bright rooms. Coupled with high-quality speakers and high adjustability, this home theater system will make an excellent addition to your living room and promises to deliver an uncompromising quality of display.

Pros
  • High resolution
  • High maximum brightness
  • Very adjustable
Cons
  • Substandard 3D performance

Performance/Resolution

Offering resolutions just short of 4K, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 has a full HD native resolution of 1080p from its 3LCD projector, featuring Image Enhancement and Frame Interpolation Technology for even sharper image quality. It displays deep black levels with a contrast ratio of 70,000:1, making it a capable gaming projector, as well as an exceptional performer for movies and shows. If full HD just isn’t good enough, the LG HU85LA  and the Acer H7850 are both exceptional 4K alternatives.

Brightness/Lumens

While all home theater projectors work best in the dark, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 displays quality video even in bright environments. Its maximum brightness is derived from a conjunction of 3,000 lumens color brightness and 3,000 lumens white brightness. Its incredible light output ensures a sharp and bright cinema experience during all hours. Ambient light doesn’t stand a chance against this workhorse in bright cinema mode, though you may prefer Eco mode for much quieter fan noise and extended lamp life.

Adjustability/Viewing Angle

Though most Epson projectors are adjustable, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 takes this a step further; with keystone correction technology, this projector offers vertical and horizontal lens shift, as well as a 1.6x zoom lens, making the initial setup highly flexible. The screen size can also be easily adjusted between 110” and a staggering 300”. The two built-in 10w speakers offer quality sound, though these can be replaced through the 3.5mm audio jack. Overall, installation of this projector is a breeze and it offers multiple features to make sure you’re getting the best possible viewing experience.

Durability

Just like the Epson Home Cinema 4010, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 lives up to its predecessors in terms of durability, with one notable exception. The average lamp life of this projector is only around 4,000 hours, though the product does ship with one extra bulb. If this is a deal-breaker, the Vankyo Performance v600 is an excellent alternative, sporting an average bulb life of 50,000 hours. If it’s not, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 also comes with Epson’s standard 2-year warranty.

Value

While the price tag of the Epson Home Cinema 3700 is not modest, neither is the projector. The native resolution and related supporting features alone make this a home theater system worth having; coupled with a plethora of adjustability features and an impressive maximum brightness, this projector is an excellent value. The goal of this projector review is to help you make an informed customer decision, but the only aspect that doesn’t make this projector worth buying is its so-so 3D capabilities.

Epson Home Cinema 3700 Wrap Up

If you’re looking for the best 3D projector money can buy, this likely isn’t the projector for you. If you’re looking for superb image quality at all hours of the day in a durable and highly adjustable product, the Epson Home Cinema 3700 marks the end of your search.
