As the best SSD laptop and the best laptop, the Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop offers both a 128GB SSD & a 1TB HDD, meaning you are sure to have enough storage for all of your favorite videos, games, and more! Running the i7 processor with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card, this system has more than enough power to play all your favorite games while still being usable as an everyday laptop.

Why We Like It – Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop

The Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop is a dedicated device with two internal storage options (128GB SSD and a 1TB HDD), an Intel i7 processor that runs up to 3.8Ghz, & an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 graphics card.

Power & Performance

This Inspiron Gaming Laptop is optimized for 1080p gaming. It uses a 7th Generation Intel Core i7 7700HQ Quad-Core processor, which is capable of running at speeds up to 3.8 GHz. For a graphics card, this system has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 which has a memory speed of 7Gbps & operates up to 1455 MHz. The 15.6” TN panel screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 (if you’re looking for something smaller, check out our Apple Macbook Pro 13 review).

Battery

Inside this device, you will find an integrated 74WHr, 6-Cell Lithium Polymer Battery. The capacity of this battery is actually quite good, but since this computer is made for hardware-intensive tasks, you can really only expect two to three hours of use on a full charge (despite being rated for up to 7.5 hours). It doesn’t charge very quickly, so allow up to four hours if you’re charging a completely dead battery. You will need to replace the battery after 300 or so charging cycles.

Ports & Expandability

On this device are three USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, an SD card reader, an ethernet port, & a headphone jack. It doesn’t have any USB-C ports or a miniDisplayPort, but the options it does have should be more than enough for playing games at home or on the go. Internally, this Inspiron has 8GB of RAM (expandable up to 32GB), 1TB of HHD storage, and 128GB of SSD storage. Unfortunately, this device doesn’t have an optical drive so you may need to purchase a CD/DVD drive.

Build Quality

The listing of this laptop claims it has a metal body, but it actually has a plastic casing instead. The plastic seems to be somewhat soft, as multiple users have complained about scratches during shipping, but this may also be a quality control issue. The bezels around the screen are very thick, but it does have a camera up top. Adding to the “gaming” feel, the keyboard on this laptop is backlit with red print, but you can turn it off if desired (for another backlit laptop visit our Acer Aspire 5 A515 review).

Value

You’ll have many different vendor options for this device, with prices ranging anywhere from $1,225 for a used laptop up to $1,999 for a new version. We would suggest buying a middle version, which only costs $1,499 (plus $8.99 for shipping). This laptop includes a one-year warranty from Dell and scores a 3.9 out of 5 stars based on 293 ratings. This seems rather lower for a laptop at this price point. For an older, cheaper, but more reliable option, take a look at our Apple Macbook Air review.

Dell Inspiron Gaming Laptop Wrap Up

Storage-wise, this laptop excels with two drives totaling 1.25TB of storage space. However, while the specs are good for gaming, there are many more modern options available for a similar price, so it all comes down to personal taste. Still, it is a quality machine so if you don’t mind the price then it could be a great investment for your on-the-go gaming needs!
