The Bonavita Connoisseur Coffee Machine may only be able to brew you a smaller-than-average batch of coffee, which may be annoying if you have guests, but at least it’s not difficult to control or understand with fancy bells and whistles. Check out our best coffee maker list for more!

Why We Like It – Bonavita Connoisseur

The Bonavita Coffee Maker is a no-fuss coffee maker that will brew you a good or specialty cup of coffee without all the fancy bells and whistles of most modern-day coffee makers. It’s relatively affordable, and brews coffee at a slightly faster pace than most modern coffee makers too.

Pros
  • Specialty coffee with pre-infusion mode
  • Slightly faster brew time
  • Looks good aesthetically
Cons
  • Can’t double as an espresso machine
  • Not pre-programmable
  • Can only brew 8 cups

Performance

The Bonavita Connoisseur Coffee Maker doesn’t contain an automatic drip function like a modern-day coffee brewer should which is a little disappointing (for comparison see our Bodum Bistro Coffee Maker Review). This means you can’t set the machine on a schedule. Brew time, clocked at 6:41, is pretty good though and is roughly in line, and maybe slightly better, than the brewing process of most modern day coffee makers. The Bonavita is an 8-Cup machine, so consider the OXO Barista Brain 9 Cup Coffee Maker if you want to brew more than just 8 cups.

Design

The Bonavita Connoisseur Drip Coffee Makers add a stainless steel carafe lid redesign and a machine mounted brew basket to help in getting every last drop out of your coffee grounds (check out the Technivorm Moccamaster KBG 741 if stainless steel isn’t your choice of design or want an even shorter brew time). The filter basket and thermal carafe require standard, stainless steel-style cleaning, so no surprises there, and the water reservoir and heating unit sit on the base’s left side which helps contribute to it’s slightly better brew time. If you like a coffee maker that is quick, convenient, and dishwater safe (though expensive) you can’t go wrong with the Bunn Hb Heat N Brew Programmable.

Value

The Connoisseur One Touch Coffee Maker offers the ability to make specialty coffee via its pre infusion mode. However, it is a little difficult to use this mode and isn’t entirely obvious when it’s activated or not. A trip to the instruction manual would be required here. The machine retails for $150.00 in the United States which is hard to justify. Stick to the Bodum Bistro Coffee Maker if you want a good cup of coffee on a budget.

Bonavita Connoisseur Wrap Up

The Bonavita Connoisseur may not be pre-programmable, but how hard is it to push a button in the morning? It may only brew 8 cups, but how much coffee do you actually need? It may be a little on the expensive side, and that might be a little harder to justify.
