The best shower curtains can make a big difference not just in keeping your bathroom floor dry, but in enhancing your bathroom’s overall design. After testing out over 20 shower curtains for about 30+ hours, we selected the AmazerBath plastic shower curtain for our top pick. The AmazerBath’s curtain is made from ethylene vinyl acetate, an eco-friendly and sturdy material. It also functions as a shower curtain liner so it’s enough to keep your bathroom floor dry on its own. To operate safely in the bathroom, you need bathroom essentials like a shower curtain to prevent water from getting on the floor and causing slips.

The AmazerBath is available in various colors, which helps to enhance your bathroom’s overall look. Our second choice, the iDesign fabric shower curtain, is another excellent choice with its floral leaf design and mildew resistant material. However, AmazerBath simply performed better as far as preventing water leaks to the floor, though, so we ultimately placed it ahead of iDesign on our list. No one wants mold and mildew, and that’s why you should also invest in the best shower curtain liners.

Top 7 Best Shower Curtains Compared

#1  AmazerBath 8G Plastic Shower Curtain

Award: Top Pick

WHY WE LIKE IT: The AmazerBath plastic shower curtain is made of eight-gauge (0.2 mm) ethylene vinyl acetate, making it thicker and more durable than other shower curtains. This multipurpose curtain can be used as either a stand-alone curtain or as a liner, offering the best bang for your buck. It matches any bathroom.

[/su_row]

The AmazerBath 8G shower curtain is the only one made of EVA on our list. It’s soft and rubbery and has clear stones at the bottom, making it very effective in preventing bathtub or shower water from leaking to the floor. Its metal grommet holes look high quality and are easy to hang. We also love how this curtain can work effectively on its own without the need for a liner. And because you won’t need a liner, you should spend that extra cash on one of the best electric toothbrushes.

The design itself is as basic as they come—no patterns or artworks. The item we used for this review was color white. However, AmazerBath offers other colors for this shower curtain, such as pink, teal, gray, and navy blue, so it can still add to the overall design of your bathroom. With its eco-friendly material, multipurpose usage, and affordable price, the AmazerBath 8G is the best, in our opinion.

The iDesign washable shower flower curtain is made of 100% polyester fabric that is resistant to wrinkle. We love the bright and refreshing colors of its floral leaf design, which certainly enhances the look of your bathroom. This wrinkle resistant fabric shower curtain is also machine-washable for easy maintenance. It dries very quickly that you may even use it as a standalone. You might also want to read our best shower curtain liner guide.

Without a weighted bottom and with its lighter material though, this polyester shower curtain won’t do as good as AmazerBath as far as keeping your floor dry. But its overall quality, from the material to the design to its affordable price, makes it a great alternative to our top choice. And should make using the best floss and pickers in the shower even better.

Award: Most Vibrant Colors

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Creative Home Ideas shower curtain has Ombre (French for “shaded”) colors with shiny dots that add to the texture. It has the best and most vibrant colors that will really make your bathroom shine.

The colors are what stand out with Creative Home Ideas’ shower curtain. We love the Ombre color pattern, light at the top and darker at the bottom. The circle patterns for texture are shiny and add to the glow of the curtain. We tried the white and dark gray version, but it’s also available in turquoise, lime, orange, marine blue, and barn red.

It also comes with beaded shower rings, so that’s a plus. This shower curtain will certainly need a liner, though, as it’s not waterproof or water repellent, unlike the other shower curtains on our list. The style will also match the best lighted makeup mirror that you choose.

Award: Hotel Quality

WHY WE LIKE IT: The Barossa Design shower curtain is made from heavyweight fabric at 230 grams per square meter (GSM). It has a beautiful waffle weave design; best for those who want a durable and attractive-looking waffle shower curtain.

The Barossa Design is heavier than the other fabric-made shower curtains we tested. At 230 GSM, this is built for durability and long-lasting usage. It also has a beautiful waffle weave design with diamond patterns, with rust-resistant metal grommets. The overall build looks really premium.

We love that it lives up to its water-repellent claim the few times that we used it. If not for the fact that it has no supporting weights at the bottom, you can use this as a standalone curtain even without a liner. Also, get a best shower caddy to help keep your area clean.

 #5  Ambesonne Nautical Shower Curtain

The Ambesonne shower curtain is the cheapest of all the curtains we tested, but it doesn’t mean that it has poor quality. It’s made of 100% polyester fabric. It’s soft, lightweight, and also machine-washable. It has plastic curtain rings instead of metal, which some may not like.

What stands out about the Ambesonne shower curtain is its design. It has a nautical-themed artwork—with a ship, waves, and a Kraken with all its tentacles. We love this design, but we also understand this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. But if you’re looking for a good quality curtain at a very affordable price, we recommend Ambesonne. Their bathroom essentials are well made with great designs.

The mDesign shower curtain is made of 65% polyester and 35% cotton. It has a waffle pattern and looks and feels premium. The makers claim that it is hotel quality, and we wouldn’t disagree. We tried the gray one, and it should blend nicely with just about any bathroom design. As far as beautifying your bathroom, the mDesign shower curtain gets the job done. Love the subtle pattern.

This shower curtain isn’t waterproof, though. You’re going to need a shower curtain liner to complement this. As far as design and affordability, though, you get an excellent value with mDesign.

Their shower curtain’s ruffle pattern and monochromatic colors would blend in perfectly even in posh hotel bathrooms. It’s made from 100% microfiber polyester curtain and is machine-washable, so maintenance doesn’t require much effort.

It’s the most expensive of all the shower curtains we tried. It also needs a bathroom curtain liner if you want to keep your floor dry. But its sleek design and high-quality material more than make up for those. Your bathroom is bound to earn plenty of style points with Comfort Spaces’ shower curtain.

How We Decided

The best shower curtains and liners don’t have to be expensive. We set the price limit at $25, although the majority of the items on our list came well under that price.

The minimum size we set is 70 by 69 inches, which should be more than enough to cover the typical bathtubs and showers.

For the materials, most shower curtains are made from polyester fabric, but we also included one that was made from eco-friendly ethylene vinyl acetate.

The design is ultimately a matter of preference. Because of that, we decided to include shower curtains with plain, basic looks and those with intricate patterns and artwork to provide you with a wide range of choices. Although hookless designs are also popular, the shower curtains on our list come with simple hooks that attach to the curtain rod.

We also looked at designs that were machine-washable and could be easily cleaned in a standard washing machine.

Shower Curtain Buyer Guide

The Most Important Features to Consider

Look for the following features when buying shower curtains:

  1. Design – Shower curtains are mainly for the enhancement of your bathroom’s overall look, whether you have a door shower, a stall shower or a clawfoot tub. You can find all sorts of designs and patterns at an affordable price. Some of the most common fabric patterns include waffle weave and ruffle. Your bathroom shower should look good.
  2. Material – If you want your shower curtains light and easy to wash, go for fabric curtains. You can also find shower curtains made of ethylene vinyl acetate, which is an excellent material because of its odorless and eco-friendly quality.
  3. Size – 70 by 69 inches should be the minimum size. That should be enough to cover your bathtub completely. There are many shower curtains bigger than that. It’s better to take measurements of your tub or shower before you make your purchase.

Shower Curtain FAQs

Is it necessary to have a shower curtain liner in addition to the shower curtain?

For shower curtains made of fabric, we highly recommend that you also use a shower curtain liner. Polyester fabric is soft and light and may not be enough to keep the water from leaking to your bathroom floor. Shower curtains made of ethylene vinyl acetate, however, can stand alone even without an accompanying shower curtain liner.

How do you prevent your shower curtain from getting molds?

There are certain measures you can take to avoid molds on your shower curtain. You can buy a mildew resistant fabric shower curtain or liner. Or a water repellent fabric shower curtain. Make sure that you dry it properly after using the bathroom. You can do this by shaking it gently to get rid of excess moisture. Next is ventilation. Opening up the door or windows can help dry the shower curtain more quickly. You can also invest in a shower curtain liner for added protection against molds.

Are there any downsides to fabric shower curtains?

Fabric show curtains can look richer, more elegant, and aesthetically pleasing. They’re also easy to wash and can be tied back, which makes them look and hang better. However, many fabric curtains can soak up moisture quickly and sometimes be a pain to use. Consider choosing a fabric shower curtain that’s designed to repel water and even using a vinyl liner alongside your curtain to keep its condition from deteriorating.
