Are you in the market for a serious dartboard, something that you’d find used in tournaments? It should have some kind of level system to hold it in place. And perhaps boundary wire that prevents bounce offs. Maybe increase point penetration? Those all sound like what the best archery target for darts provides, the Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard. If you also want to improve your hunting skills, check our best hunting and shooting checklist.

Why We Like It – Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard

With a dual core bristle board, thin, sharp wiring system and a triple rota lock and level system, this tournament style dartboard puts in all the work to ensure you have a higher scoring potential

Pros
Dual core bristle dartboard increases point penetration Triple rota lock and level systems hold dart board in place Thinner wiring system for higher scoring potential
Cons
Supply your own darts Pricey

Performance

Getting your preferred darts to stick on the Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard will be a cinch. There’s no magic here, but rather a dual core system Winmau implemented. Rather than have one layer of bristle, there’s two. This means the point of your dart won’t penetrate the first layer and hit the back; instead, it will travel through the first bristle layer and come to another. In the end you get far better point penetration without bounce offs, and still easy to remove, unlike arrows stuck inside a Morrell Double 450FPS Archery Target.

Design

The dynamic sector wires and radial wires separating each scoring area are made much thinner and sharper, providing more surface area. This in turn gives you much higher scoring potential since the darts will be far less likely to strike the boundaries and bounce off. To further provide a great playing area is the triple rota lock and level system. When installed, those three locks can level the board and lock it into place. The board is best paired with steel tip darts, similar to how the Delta McKenzie Speed Bag Archery Target only supports field point arrows.

Value

At first glance, $85 seems like a lot—and to some, it certainly isn’t pocket change. It doesn’t help that you also have to supply your own darts. But make no mistake: you are paying for quality. In fact, the Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard impressed enough of the dart community that it was used in the Lakeside World Championship and the Winmau World Masters. If it’s good enough for tournaments, then it’s good enough for your wall, though not as portable as a Block Classic 22 Archery Target.

Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard Wrap Up

Despite its price tag and bringing your own supply of darts, the Winmau Blade 5 Bristle Dartboard is worth the investment—if you’re serious about darts or wish to learn and want some of the best terrain to play on. A dual core bristle board increases point penetration, while the thinner wiring system improves scoring potential. And to top it off, the triple rota lock holds the board in place while in play.
