Ever heard about the Swiss Army Knife before? If so, then you’re already familiar with a product from Victorionix. This is an expert knife maker from Switzerland, and from them comes another fine sample – the Victorinox Fibrox Pro 8-inch Chef’s knife. Might be a mouthful, but this stainless steel knife comes well made, with a thermoplastic elastomer for good grip. It’s sharp edge makes it great for cutting, chopping, dicing, mincing or slicing, and its fibrox handle guarantees that you’ll always hold it in position. These are just some of the few features that we think make it the best chef knife, but if you’re not convinced, maybe you will be after you’re done with this Victorinox Fibrox knife review. Why We Like It – Victorinox Fibrox

The Swiss are well known for their expertise in knives, and the Victorinox Fibrox Pro is just another feather in their cap. This Fibrox Pro chef’s knife is razor sharp, and has an ergonomic handle that doesn’t slip even when wet.

Pros
  • Slip resistant ergonomic handle
  • High carbon steel for longer blade retention
  • Stainless steel material that’s easy to clean
Cons
  • Rough handle takes getting used to
  • Light weight not convenient for dealing with large foods

Performance

While most kitchen knives don’t tend to have a good grip, the Fibrox pro’s handle is made of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) making it easier to hold on to.The knife is also dishwasher safe, and it has a stainless steel blade that is forged as opposed to being stamped. If you don’t know, this means it’s made from one single piece of steel instead of being cut from a single sheet. At 8’’, it’s not as long as the Shun Classic 10-inch knife’’, but it does come ready to use without the need for any sharpening, and it’s going to be a long time till you need to do so.

Design

The design of this chef knife is what most people would term as classic, though the blade is slightly wider than normal. The plastic handle has a rough texture to it that you also get used to over time. It’s not made of wood like the Wusthof Ikon 8-inch”, but you’ll still get a good firm grip whenever you’re working with it. The knife is exactly 7.9 inches in length, comes only in black and is lightweight at almost half a pound. This makes it perfect for cutting in a rocking motion. Value

The interesting thing that you might notice about this Victorinox Chef knife is that it fits the description of a professional kitchen knife, but it retails at a lot less than $100. This is therefore a steal for anyone who wants to have an expert’s tool in the kitchen. As mentioned before, this knife is forged and not stamped, and this gives it a higher blade retention. At half a pound, it’s also not as light as the Mac Knife Hollow Edge 10’’, but that’s a very small difference that only professional cooks will be able to notice.

Victorinox Fibrox Wrap Up

This knife Victorinox is crafted of high carbon steel, meaning it is much harder and likely to last longer as your kitchen companion. The knife is well appreciated by professional chefs across the world, with the likes of Gordon Ramsey also placing his approval behind the Victorinox brand.
