Why We Like It – Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Review

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is an interesting turn based strategy game that brings a fresh look to the series of Sid Meier’s games developed years ago. Civ Vi focuses on your ability to conquer land, and use resources gained to improve life in your empire through culture, technology, military, economy, and religious fields. It includes occasional clashing with other cities around you that may become good friends or sworn enemies depending on your interaction with the events during play. It also brings some historical context with various mentions from the rulers of history.

Pros
  • Expansion Packs Available
  • Local Multiplayer Capability
  • Educational Historical Context
Cons
  • No Online Multiplayer Available
  • Games Between Players Are Too Long

Performance

Sid Meier’s Civilization Vi uses high contrast graphics that give the game an appealing bright look. The cut scenes, and interaction screens are also enjoyable since it provides visual entertainment with the results of our actions throughout the game rather than simplifying the interactions since considering the game plays entirely as a turn based game. The volatility of results that comes from the decisions made in the game gives in to trying it a couple times to find your method of play. If for any reason this game feels a little too complicated, another amazing strategy game to try out is mario and rabbids kingdom, a strategy game easy enough to play with the whole family, or if strategy games are not your favorite we recommend witcher 3 wild hunt for an intense action-packed adventure.

Design

Sid Meier’s Civ Vi game features many paths to improve your society as you please. Everything from what kind of government you run, the supplies you will search for your community, the ways you will advance technology, is what’s most interesting gameplay to newcomers like myself because it gives an in-depth understanding of how the rulers governed years ago, and even now. There are various skill trees that provide a multitude of ways to upgrade, and whatever you choose will ultimately decide if your empire shall keep growing or possibly fall.

Value

The expansion packs allow this strategy game to be in a constant state of renewal with new maps, and will bring even more exciting updates to the game as you grow your empire, that is if you’re willing to go the extra mile and pay for it. Aside from the expansion packs, it is a brilliantly made game that comes with a variety of styles of trait upgrades that bring a unique experience to every player’s kingdom, or empire or theocracy, or any other style of government.

Sid Meier’s Civilization VI Review Wrap Up

The turn based strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization Vi brings a unique experience of world conquest filled with historical context that appeals to new players, while not drastically changing the game too much that the die hard fans unrecognize it. You can take home a slice of history by interacting with the rulers of the past, reigning along with them or taking them for every resource they have. Although multiplayer is available, some online features and shorter gameplay overall might attract more players that are looking for more of a casual game to play, but overall it is a very interesting game that takes into play nearly all of factors that affect a growing society.
