Scamander All Terrain Vehicle Swims, Closest we’ve seen that is Production Worthy (video)

If you’ve seen the movie Swordfish starring John Revolta, then you might be familar with the brand of car called TVR.  Putting aside that we now know you wasted the better part of 2-hours, we’re gonna assume that you’ve not heard of it’s founder, Peter Wheeler, or a vehicle called the Scamander, an all terrain vehicle that is, well, for lack of better words, quite versatile.

The Scamander is powered by a 300-hp, V6 engine, as found in many a TVR vehicle.  It boasts an automatic gearbox, a suspension that has it on par with probably some of the best off-roading vehicles, and a 0-60 in roughly 8-seconds.  Not too shabby, and let’s not put aside that this Halo looking vehicle can hit a top speed of 120mph.  But that’s all on land.  Say what?!

Hidden at the rear of the Scamander is a impeller, which is something like a propeller, but for the sake of simplicity sucks in water to move a vehicle in a forward trajectory while afloat.  As you’ll see in the above video it’s capable of off-roading, driving on tarmac, and transitioning seemlessly into a sea worthy like ship.  If you’ve already watched the video, then you’ll know that all that fan noise is a result of a completely sealed engine compartment.  Without those fans the Scamander would over heat and nor would it be water tight, so it’s a caveat we’re willing to except.

Unfortunately, Wheeler passed away before the project was complete.  Nevertheless, his wife and a team of engineers made sure the Scamander saw road, or should we say water time.  We’re thinking Sea Lion vs Scamander.  Any takers?
