Pioneer was well known for their plasma TVs about 10 years ago.  Unfortunately, that ship set sail long ago and they weren’t on board…or were they.  In any event, they’ve never abandoned their audio roots and today introduced a new set of headcans for those of you that still pledge an allegiance to the brand.

The SE-NC21M are a pair of noise canceling, over the ear headphones.  They’re powered by a single AAA battery, which is said to last for up to 120 hours.  Pioneers claims that they can block up to 90% of ambient noise so you can enjoy your music and movies if you’re on the bus, train or in a crowded coffee shop.  There’s no official spec on weight, but word is they’re light weight – whatever that means.  But no matter, since we’re relatively pleased with the 30mm drivers, which should provide an ample frequency response and some half way decent bass. Aesthetically the SE-NC21M noise canceling headphones look minimal in design so no complaints there and Pioneer includes a carrying case once they’re folded up.

The Pioneer SE-NC21M Noise Canceling Headphones will ship this May for $119.
