Odyssey Batteries feature a non-spillable design which allows you to place it any way you please without over to worry about an electrolytes spill. It’s affordable, which is always a plus, but unfortunately the reviews on the warranty support is a mixed bag. Check out our best car battery list for more great options!

Why We Like It – ODYSSEY PC680 Odyssey Battery

The Odyssey PC680 Odyssey Battery has an impressive 170 CCA rating meaning it can get you going even in the coldest of temperatures. The tin-plated brass terminals are corrosion resistant, which is always a nice touch, and the longer lifespan means it’ll be years (a decade according to Odyssey) before you’ll need to replace it.

Pros
  • Pure lead plates
  • Non spillable design
  • Affordable
Cons
  • Only 24 minutes of reserve capacity
  • Inconsistent Warranty Support

Performance

The Odyssey PC680 Battery comes equipped with 170 cold cranking amps (CCA) which means it’s one of the easier car batteries to get up and running during the winter when temperatures are well below freezing. It has a nominal capacity of 16 Ah (20h discharge, down to 10.5 volts), but unfortunately only 24 reserve capacity minutes. But on a plus side, the battery can recharge in just four to six hours so you can be on the road again quickly. If you’d like to remedy the reserve capacity issue, consider the Optima Batteries 8020 164 35 Starting.

Design

The Battery Odyssey comes with tin-plated brass terminals which make it corrosion-resistant. Pure lead plates also mean more of them can be fitted into a single battery, because they’re thinner, and in-turn increases the surface area, allowing for better service life. The non-spillable design allows you to position the battery in any way you prefer without having to worry about electrolyte spillage. Overall, because of the non-spillable and maintenance-free design, the battery is very, very safe. Value

The Odyssey PC680 Battery carries a longer lifespan than conventional batteries. In fact, according to Odyssey themselves, the battery can run seventy percent longer, or for about 400 cycles. It retails for $129.00 over on Amazon which is a fair price and does qualify you for free shipping. If you do want something more powerful, but more expensive, look at the Optima Batteries 8014 045 YellowTop Purpose. The Odyssey Battery does come with a warranty, which is always very nice. Unfortunately, it does seem to be a little inconsistent with some people praising it and others have nothing but scorn.

ODYSSEY PC680 Odyssey Battery Wrap Up

The Odyssey PC680 Battery biggest drawback in terms of performance is the measly 24 minutes of reserve capacity. But with an affordable price-tag, pure lead plates, and non-spillable design, they carry the rights reserved to have to draw back on one feature. And if you really think about it, 24 minutes is still a pretty decent amount of time.
