The Meccano Erector Robot will provide you and your children with great fun as you build, download, and teach your little robot all about life inside your home. It may be a little too advanced for younger children, so the 10+ age recommendation on the box is spot-on. Check out our robot toys for kids list to get even more ideas.

Why We Like It – Meccano Erector

The Meccano Erector Robot is a great project to work on with your kids. Especially if they’re STEM-minded, or if you want to try and nudge them into the STEM field. It’s a toy that learns as you play with it, and watching it do so will give you and your children a great sense of accomplishment and pride. Pros
    • Great for STEM-Minded Children
    • Learns as you play with it
    • Awesome gripping hands
    Cons
    • Doesn’t come with A.I. Software pre-installed
    • Can be a little pricey for a toy

    Performance

You must download the artificial intelligence software upon completing the initial build. It’s a little annoying, and can disturb play-time a little, but it shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Check out the Really RAD Robot Toy for kids if you want to have fun straight out of the box. The Meccano robot can really put on a show, less about being able to do things right off the bat and more about learning as it goes. It begins by asking you questions to familiarize itself, and then it begins to learn while you play with it. You can even ask it to bring you something with its gripping hands! Design

The build process of the Meccano Erector is pretty much the same as other Meccano projects. The pieces are dense plastic, so don’t worry about breaking them, and the instructions are easy to follow which is a blessing considering the set comes with 332 pieces. Please try the Top Race Robot Dog for Kids if you are in the market for a pre-assembled robot instead. The Meccano Erector is only 12” tall when fully assembled and weighs only a smidge below three pounds, so it shouldn’t be too difficult getting it from room to room to test its capabilities. Value

The Meccano Erector Robot retails on Amazon for $150.00 which is a fantastic price considering this is a learning robot. But if you are on a budget, consider the Sikaye RC Robot Toy for Kids. But the greatest value the Mecanno Erector can possibly give you is the sense of the accomplishment you, or your children, or hopefully both, will feel when you finally complete the project. Watching them smile as their robot learns the layout of their home will be a joy. Do you want to check out the smallest smart robot on the market? Meccano Erector Wrap Up

If you’re child is STEM-minded, or you believe them to be drifting towards that, or if you want to test them and see, the Meccano Erector Robot is a great place to start for all three. It may be a little pricey for a toy, but the results should more than make up for it.
