Those users who live in highly restrictive places mostly think that an omnidirectional UHF-VHF antenna will be the Best TV Antenna for their needs. But that isn’t always the case. You don’t always need to spend more on the Best Omnidirectional TV Antenna to get the performance you need. This Lava Antenna proves that handily.

Why We Like It – Lava Antenna
Lava is very popular for the performance and durability of its UHF-VHF antennas, and this Lava Antenna also falls in the same category. It’s a Lava HD antenna and control box combo that you can buy for cheap; there’s really nothing else to say about it. That alone should be more than enough of a reason why it deserves attention.
- Built-in motor for 180 rotation
- Adjustable high gain receiver
- Up to a 100-mile range
- The motor can’t exactly handle intense wind speeds
- Build quality could’ve been better
Performance
Despite not being a run of the mill omnidirectional antenna, this Lava HD outdoor antenna provides fantastic performance (on par with the Vansky Outdoor 150 Mile Motorized 360 Degree Rotation OTA Amplified HD TV Antenna). When other older HDTV antennas can’t even compete with the newer, more modern options, this six years old Lava HD TV antenna holds up well.
Ease Of Install
As it is an outdoor high gain UHF VHF TV antenna, it’s not nearly as easy to install as something like the 1byone Indoor Amplified TV Antenna. Still, compared to other outdoor antennas, this one has a simpler installation process. For those who are not tech savvy, a TV antenna such as Philips SDV7114A can come in handy since it is extremely easy to install.
Durability
The build quality of this high gain outdoor HDTV antenna is nothing to flaunt about. It’s actually somewhat worse than their own cheaper Lava HD8008 Antenna, and that is partially the fault of the built-in motor itself. It doesn’t stay stable under windy weather.
Range
The 100-mile range is top-notch and better than most other outdoor TV antennas at this price. This is a section where this UHF VHF outdoor HDTV antenna does pretty much no wrong at. It’s a fantastic antenna to buy, in case you live in remote places, because of the range.
Value
The whole outdoor antenna, HD controller, and remote control combo really are worth the money you spend behind them. On top of that, the rotation control happens through the coaxial cable itself— no need to run two separate wires to the outdoor HDTV antenna.
Lava Antenna Wrap Up
Compared to other older TV antennas, the Lava Antenna holds up relatively well. And despite it not being an omnidirectional antenna at its core, it achieves pretty much the same results with its 180 degrees rotation.
