For the all around best subwoofers, we turn to Klipsch for help. And their response is the R-100SW 10 Subwoofer. Geared with an injection molded graphite woofer and 300 watts of peak power, the subwoofer can deliver deep bass from its front firing driver, while complimenting higher notes with its highly efficient digital amplifier.

Why We Like It – Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer

Klipsch is known for high quality subwoofers, and this is no exception. With 300 watts of power and 32-120Hz to toy with, the R-100SW is both powerful and versatile.

Pros
  • 300 watts of peak power
  • Good frequency range of 32-120Hz
  • Free shipping
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Not the prettiest finish

Performance

The Injection Molded Graphite woofer cone is the MVP of the Klipsch Reference Front Firing Driver Subwoofer, the R-110SW. The low frequency response it offers is thanks to a combination of light material that’s still very rigid. This also creates deep, clean bass notes. To compliment the 10-inch front firing spun copper IMG woofer is a high efficiency digital amplifier. It offers that extra detail to compliment the bass Klipsch is so well-known for. Frequency range of the Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer is 32-120Hz, though the BIC America F12 offers 25-250Hz. The subwoofer has a great 300 watts of peak power to play with. For more, the Polk Audio PSW505 has 500 watts. Do you want to check out a speaker with adjustable crossover, automatic signal sensing, and adjustable volume control? Read our Bic America F12 review.

Design

One aspect of the Klipsch R-100SW 10 Powered Subwoofer is the design, the finish in particular. The textured wood finish isn’t for everyone, and certainly isn’t the prettiest looking subwoofer on our list. To be fair, it doesn’t affect performance, but will only fit in limited color schemes. It’s a front firing copper spun woofer, which means sound comes from the front (or side), making it easy to place just about anywhere as opposed to down firing woofers. And it doesn’t have a shortage of controls, such as phase control, line level LFE RCA inputs, and low pass crossover.  You can also look at our Klipsch reference R 112SW review for a speaker that delivers 600watts of dynamic power.

Value

We didn’t doubt the power behind the Klipsch speakers; the Reference series gets an A+ from us. However, its price should be called in for questioning. Is it a great price? That’s debatable. The 10-inch Polk Audio PSW10 is definitely better for pound value; not as powerful but easier on your wallet if budget is a concern. With that said, the pricing for the Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer has dropped since its inception. If you’re a fan of Klipsch, then $250 is a small price to pay for a powerful subwoofer, with free shipping.

Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer Wrap Up

If you swear by Klipsch’s subwoofers, and can look past the strange wood finish, the Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer is going to perform beautifully for you. It’s got a good frequency range of 32-120Hz, 300 watts of power to play with, and deep bass. For music or for home theater, the Klipsch R-100SW 10 Subwoofer will fit right at home (no pun intended).
