Performance
Playing the game Clue requires the ability to do a lot of detective reasoning, but if you’re good at catan the board game, you’ll probably be good at this as well. To begin, every player chooses a character piece, and then one player has a suspect card, weapon card and room card placed in a secret envelope. All the remaining cards are then dealt to everyone equally, and a murder weapon gets placed in each room. Movement on the squares happens by rolling the dice and moving the playing piece on the yellow or white squares. As gameplay continues, one of the objectives is to move into a room to be able to make suggestions as to who the killers may be. A discussion between you and your fellow players then ensues as they try to disprove your theory, but if none is fully able to, then you proceed to making an accusation.
Design
The Cluedo board game does have a number of components to it, but thankfully, they’re all relevant to the game. The complete set includes a game board, 6 murder weapons, a detective notebook, room cards, weapon cards, character cards, dice and a secret envelope. They’re more than what you’ll get from the plan games azul board game, but it’s not something we can complain about. All these pieces are used during game play, but the one component that sets it apart from other board games is the secret envelope. Value
Although marked as approved for players of 8 years and above, the Clue board game might be best left for adults. This is because some minors may not take playing a game that’s entirely based on murder too well. Other than that, the game is a well known classic, and one of the few that you can play with your grandparents. However, if mystery-solving doesn’t sound like something you’d be interested in doing, then maybe a civilisation-building game like ticket to ride might be worth checking out.
