Why We Like It – FLATenna 35

The FLATenna 35 is another in a long line of successful Channel Master products. It’s powerful enough to not only receive 25-40 channels (depending on where you live), but also ensures that at least 80% of those channels are watchable and stable.

Performance

Channel Master FLATenna Indoor TV Antennas can receive all local network-affiliate stations such as CNN or NBC. Depending on where you live this could mean 25-40 television stations. Some of these are bound to be unwatchable, but they only amount to four or five channels tops. You can check out the Channel Master Smartenna Plus too if you want a bit of amplification.

Ease of Install

Admittedly, there was one glaring draw back to Channel Master’s FLATenna Indoor Antenna. That drawback is that it does not come with a coaxial cable so you’ll need to supply your own. Or you can check out the U MUST HAVE Amplified Hd Digital TV Antenna. On the plus side, this means you can get whatever length of coaxial cable you need and don’t have to contend with the included one being too long or too short.

Durability

Like the SMARTenna+, the SMARTenna Digital TV Antenna is dual-sided, black on one and white on the other, so you can choose the one best suited to your decor. Other than that, it’s the same basic size and shape as all other indoor TV antennas. Very lightweight and paper thin. If you want something in a tower option, check out the Antop HD Smart Bar Amplified TV Antenna.

Range

The FLATenna 35, as the name implies, has a 35 mile range. It’s a good range, and it’s about 10 miles wider than the average range for an indoor TV antenna. Further, the FLATenna is omni-directional, so it can receive signals from all sides. It’s still a good idea to place it as high up as you can, but it’s still a good feature to have if you find you can’t do that. You can go for the Winegard HD8200U if you live in the suburbs and want something with a good mile range.

Value

At $34.00 the FLATenna 35 isn’t exactly expensive, so there’s very little risk of not getting your money’s worth. If you’ve been curious about TV antennas, this would be a good place to start. Plus, with the money you’re saving with this, you can purchase any coaxial cable you’ll need. Customer reviews won’t be a good indicator this time around though. There’s only four of them.

FLATenna 35 Wrap Up

It really is an odd decision to not include a coaxial cable with the antenna, but I guess that’s how Channel Master is able to keep the FLATenna 35 at such a low price. So if you have a spare one just lying around there’s no reason why you shouldn’t, at least, give the FLATenna 35 a whirl.
