Update: Game is now released! Both edition of FFXIV: ARR are on sale for 25% off, with CE at $37.50 and regular edition at $22.50. Use coupon GMG25-J4B0D-FLH8M

If you’ve participated in the recent last beta session of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and you’re interested in buying the game, you’re probably wondering whats the difference between the Digital Collector’s Edition versus the Standard Edition (on the PC). Beyond the bigger price tag, the CE essentially comes with more in-game goodies, with one particular item of note: a Coeurl Mount (sample screenshot of the mount below).

Just a note that prices vary depending your region, and if you’re in North America (US, Mexico, Canada), you MUST buy the NA copy. For others, you should get redirected to the copy for your perspective region (although according to Square Enix there’s only the NA version and then the rest).

How-to Setup FFXIV A Realm Reborn Early Access

If you can’t wait to get your early access head start, which starts this Saturday at August 24th – you can download and preload the game client straight from Square Enix. (100MB install client). If you’ve already received your pre-order code, you can redeem your code at Square Enix here to get early access along with your in-game pre-order bonuses. (Items are delivered via in-game mail system).

You should note that the pre-order code you’ve received from the retailer you bought AAR from is DIFFERENT than the eventual, final game key you’ll receive for AAR. Its a bit confusing but they are two separate keys. You’ll still have to activate your copy/account of FF14 AAR.

Thus far early impression looks positive though there’s definitely been hiccups in terms of pre-order redemption (system error from Square Enixs and FFXIV, etc) – though one can argue this is now the norm for a major MMO launch, you would think publishers and developers will prep things better.
