There is an Apple event going down right now and guess what, the company announced a new set of iPads.  But that’s not the real news.  The real news is this killer iMac with a 5k screen.

Okay, so it might be overkill for some of you, if not most of you.  And honestly, more pixels, is that real news? Well, yes, and mostly because it’s Apple.  But nevertheless, it’s a 27-inch screen (5210 x 2880) with 14.7 million pixels jammed inside of it.  More pixels means more work space in a smaller screen. And if you need a PC for simple for web browsing and YouTube HD, why not check out our review of the Lenovo C200 all-in-one PC priced and spec’d.

Retina iMac 2And in case you were wondering, they’re calling the display itself the Retina 5K Display, and the iMac the iMac with a Retina display.  Form factor wise, it’s the same as last year’s iMac, sporting an edge that is 5mm thin.  In fact, aside from the screen, it looks identical to the previous generation iMac.

Price? $2,500. Which includes a 3.5Ghz Intel Core i5 processor, AMD Radeon R9 graphics, 8GB of RAM, Apple wireless keyboard, Apple Magic Mouse, an SD card slot, 4 USB 3.0 ports, 2 Thunderbolt ports, a mini Displayport, a Gigabit Ethernet port, Bluetooth 4.0, dual mic, stereo speakers, WiFi a/b/g/n, OS X Yosemite, and a hybrid SSD/HDD with 1TB of storage.  If you so choose, you can add 16-32GB of RAM, a 3TB Fusion Drive (or an SSD up to 1TB in size), Intel’s 4.0GHz quad-core Core i7, and a AMD Radeon R9 M295X graphics processor with 4GB of GDDR5 memory.

So what’s the top end price? $4,399.
