Why We Like It – Antennas Direct DB8E

The Antennas Direct DB8E Antenna is another in a plentiful line of great Antennas Direct products. It can be installed in two different ways depending on where you live and the direction of broadcast towers and can pull in these signals from a healthy, 70-mile range.

Performance

The Antennas Direct DB8E HDTV Antenna is made, specifically, as a UHF antenna and thus cannot pull in any signals from VHF broadcast towers. The majority of TV stations in a city are UHF, but if you live in a rural community or the suburbs, you might have a harder time. Consider the RCA ANT751R Compact Outdoor Yagi HDTV Antenna if you want a TV antenna that can pull both signals.

Ease of Install

The DB8E can actually be set-up in two ways. The first is to align the left and right arrays in the same direction, increasing the total signal received. The second is to point each array in different directions, to receive programming from different broadcast towers. It’s multi directional so it’s up to you how you want to set it up. And like the 1byone Indoor Amplified TV Antenna it also comes with a coaxial cable!

Durability

Ten pounds isn’t heavy by any stretch of the imagination, but it is when you’re talking about TV antennas that you have to install on your roof. Consider the Pingbingding HDTV Antenna if you want something more lightweight. However, the specially designed brackets allow for the two panels on the DB8E to target multiple directions.

Range

The DB8E is a long range antenna, and considering it can pick up a signal from 70 mile away, I’d say it lives up to that name. Just remember that you’ll only be getting UHF signals. If you live far away from a broadcast tower this may require a booster, but city-dwellers should be okay. They can still get a booster for image stabilization if they please. A reasonably priced amplifier such as DrillTop TV Antenna Amplifier should do the job perfectly.

Value

Antennas Direct offers a lifetime warranty on all parts on the DB8E, which is always nice to see. Further, the reviews on Amazon are pretty good, scoring a respectable 4.5/5 stars based on a plentiful 2,195 reviews. Where I hesitate with this antenna is the over $100.00 price tag. It just seems like too much to pay for an antenna that receives only one type of signal.

Antennas Direct DB8E Wrap Up

I know I keep harping on this, but the fact that the Antennas Direct DB8E is only limited to one signal severely hampers your channel capabilities. Still, what it offers in other regards, like the lifetime warranty and the 70-,ile range, is pretty good. If you live in the city, you won’t be disappointed.
